Fillers
Injectable fillers include Juvederm®, Restylane®, Perlane® and Radiesse®. These fillers are composed of naturally occuring substances in your body (hyaluronic acid or calcium) and as a result it “fills” the wrinkles that have developed over time. The results are immediate and last up to one year.

About fillers
There are 3 main fillers that are used today: Juvederm®, Restylane® and Perlane®. They are all made of the same ingredient – hyaluronic acid. There is a newer filler called Radiesse® that is made of calcium. All the fillers are made of naturally occuring substances made by your body. The fillers are meant to “fill” the loss of these substances which occurs in the aging process. To make one look “youthful” – we need to “fill” up the wrinkles and smooth out the skin. Hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid and collagen are necessary for our skin to have fullness. When we are born – we have 100% of this. As we age – we lose a little bit each day. This becomes evident in our 30’s as we develop creases/wrinkles between the nose and lips. When we inject fillers – we are just restoring back what your body has lost. In essence, we are filling your gas tank back to full.
Nasolabial fillers
This patient is 43 years old and its evident because the lines are extending from the nose all the way to the lips. By injecting fillers, we are softening the lines. We are not erasing them. Just smoothing them so that it looks natural.
The results will be immediate however it can take up to 2 weeks for the filler to absorb into your body and create maximal effect.
Lips
As we age – our lips also start to lose collagen and hyaluronic acid. It starts in the lateral portions and the lips begin to thin and sag. You can see in the first photo how the lips have tired or droopy appearance. By injecting filler back into the lips – we have created a balanced and youthful appearance.
Marionette Lines
As we continue to age – the lines extend further from the lips down to the chin. These are called Marionette lines and often give a false appearance of sadness or fatigue. By injecting fillers, we can immediately correct these lines and create a happier and more youthful appearance. This lasts for up to 1 year!
